Abstract

High speed trimaran is a recently developed type of ships, with a wider deck and two de-mi hulls, which possesses multiple abilities such as higher seakeeping, wave piercing with less re-sistance. Physical model tests of trimarans are of necessity for researching wave loads and slamming effects of the trimaran, since the wave interactions between main hull and demi hulls are nonlinear and lacking of precise theoretical forecasts. Hull girder bending moments induced by wave loads are presented of a trimaran model test in a seakeeping laboratory tank, results of which show that load characteristics of the trimaran is of complexity and should be fully paid attention by trimaran de-signers.
