Abstract
Our environment is in need of assistance. There are many young students who are not aware of the ways in which they can help to keep their environment a safe and clean place. They neither have any type of connection to their surroundings nor realize how they have an impact on their environment. This capstone examines the ways in which schools in the Salinas area could bring environmental awareness to their kindergarten classrooms. Through use of teacher and student pre- and post-surveys and lesson plans on Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle with the students, the findings indicate that education is key to raising awareness for children as young as kindergartens.
