Abstract

Are there any proven methods to prevent recurrent infections\n in patients with chronic indwelling urinary catheters? Aside from intermittent catheterization or use of a\n condom catheter, there are no safe, proven treatments for preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections\n (CA-UTI) in patients with an indwelling urethral or\n suprapubic catheter for longer than 14 days (SOR: B,\n systematic reviews and RCTs of individual interventions).
