Abstract
Women with chlamydia or gonorrhea infection at the time of IUD insertion are at increased risk of PID relative to women without infection. (SOR: A, based on a systematic review.) However, women found to have chlamydia at the time of IUD insertion are unlikely to develop PID if treated promptly. (SOR: B, based on 2 prospective cohort studies.)
