Retrospective Study of Risk Factors for Cerebral Infarction

Abstract

We have observed 10 patients of cerebral infarction and one of myocardial infarction at aged home in Fujieda from 1981 to 1984. Tweleve risk factors were examined before and after the starting of stroke as follow: age, T-cholesterol (T-CHO), triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol (HDL-CHO), CRFI=(T-CHO—HDL-CHO)/T-CHO, uric acid, blood sugar, hematocrit, electrocardiogram, and ocular fundus index.The difference between the cerebral infarction group and 66 persons of control group showed a significant increase of blood sugar 92mg/100ml in stroke patient and 86mg/100ml in control group. Significant differences were observed between male and female as follows:1) Male is lower than female on CRFI 0.67 compared in female 0.77. HDL-CHO (61mg/100ml) were noted in male and 44mg/100ml in female (p<0.005). UA, 7.8mg/100ml in male and 6.0mg/100ml in female (p<0.05). Hematocrit, 43.8ml/100ml in male and 36.8ml/100ml in female. Diasolic blood pressure 80mmHg in male and 73 mmHg in female.2) Male is lower T-CHO (173mg/100ml) than female (202mg/100ml), and TG 94mg/100ml of male to 169mg/100ml of female (p<0.05).
