Abstract

During the course of examination on the isatin synthesis by the isonitrosoacetanilide method, some questions arose as to its reaction mechanism and, therefore, some unknown derivatives of isatin were synthesized by this method. Those obtained were 5-methoxyisatin and its phenylhydrazone from isonitroso-p-aniside synthesized from p-anisidine.
