The concentration of urine antithrombin III measured by newly developed EIA method showed a marked increase in acute phase of myocardial infarction. The peak value of urinary output of AT III reached in the delay of two or three days behind the peak of heart enzymes (CPK, LDH), and had a significant correlation with the severity of clinical situation according to Killip's criteria.Therefore, it was suggested that a higher value of urinary output of AT III reflected a much more poor prognosis in acute phase of myocardial infarction.
