This chapter takes exception to Parfit’s discussions of expressivism. It takes exception to Parfit’s own discussions of practical reasons, describes the explanatory benefits of a pragmatist and expressivist approach to ethics, and wards off misunderstandings about these approaches that permeate On What Matters.
