Abstract
The first recorded occurrence of the dendroid graptolite Desmograptus cancellatus (Hopkinson) in the upper Mississippi Valley is from the middle Ordovician Stewartville member of the Galena formation in Fillmore County, Minnesota. It was found 6 ft. above the base of the upper Receptaculites oweni zone in mottled recrystallized, calcareous dolomite.
