Abstract
W. E. Knowles Middleton London: Oxford University Press. 1964. Pp. xx + 489. Price 88s. This book gives a comprehensive study of the barometer and its development as an instrument for measuring atmospheric pressure, but excludes the many barometers which have an interest mainly as items of furniture. Those which are popular in the sale rooms are not discussed, nor are manometers and special instruments for the measurement of very low pressures.
