Abstract

The notion of Housing First has had wide impact on service provision in homelessness services in Australia, prompting service operation to be structured around its main goal - to secure permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness. This approach has dominated service practice in Australia for the past decade and rests on the idea that helping people experiencing homelessness to access and sustain permanent, affordable housing should be the primary concern for service providers.
