Abstract
Teaching second language (L2) speaking skills that are integrated with other skills can enhance learning in a variety of ways, for example by helping language learners expand their background knowledge in content areas, by increasing their vocabulary knowledge and grammar repertoire, and by improving their pronunciation. Given the large number of options for teaching L2 speaking integrated with other skills, only two are examined here: integrated instruction in (a) speaking and listening, and in (b) speaking and learning L2 pragmatics.
