Abstract
Chaetetes venustus Ulrich 1878 and not Crepipora simulans Ulrich 1890 is shown to be the valid type species of Crepipora Ulrich 1882 [Ordovician-Silurian, North America and northwestern Europe]. The primary type of the type species is redescribed, and the internal structure described for the first time. The change in type species does not change the generic concept very much.
