Abstract

The CSA's advocacy efforts with regard to the Corporations Amendment (Improving Accountability on Termination Payments) Bill 2009 are discussed. The final regulations for the bill were released by the Australian government on 4 September 2009 and was then presented in Parliament. CSA's efforts were aimed at ensuring that the legislation does not prejudice long-serving employees by making termination payouts dependent on shareholder vote.
