Abstract
In the paper the impedance boundary-value problem of excitation of a rotating spherical metal-wall dielectric resonator is formulated and solved rigorously. The frequency characteristics are calculated using the solution and are compared with the characteristics for a metal-wall cavity and a dielectric resonator with PEC walls. Dielectric filling allows miniaturization of resonator, while the introduction of the dielectric loss results in a lower Q-factor of the resonator.
