Abstract
A new OFDM scheme for a doubling of spectral efficiency is proposed. It consists of two independent OFDM signals that are squeezed into the same frequency band. One of the OFDM sub-carriers are inserted into frequency gaps of the other OFDM sub-carriers. It is impossible to separate two OFDM signals in the baseband region because there is no orthogonality between sub-carriers of two OFDM signals. So, a key is in signal separation process in the receiver. Our proposal is to use frequency difference between two OFDM signals in the IF-band region. A perfect separation becomes accomplished under limited conditions for cutoff frequency of transmit filters in the transmitter. The potential of our proposal is demonstrated and the remaining problem is also discussed.
