Abstract
Abstract 1. Protein synthesis in adult Schistosoma mansoni, incubated in vitro, was measured by the incorporation of [3H] leucine into TCA insoluble material. 2. Cycloheximide and emetine produced dose-related inhibitions of protein synthesis; approx 900 fold greater concentrations of cycloheximide were required to produce the same degree of inhibition as emetine. 3. Cycloheximide inhibited protein synthesis in male and female worms to the same extent. 4. Emetine produced less inhibition of protein synthesis in female worms compared to males.
