Employee innovative work behavior and its roots in their work engagement: An Indian experience

Abstract

The present study has been conducted in Indian automobile sector with samples from some of its prestigious two wheeler manufacturers. The study apart from highlighting the relevance of innovative work behavior and work engagement also reveals that various variables of work environment like employee autonomy and organizational support exert its direct and positive impact on employee work engagement as well as on their innovative work behavior. Further, indirect relationships between these work environment variables and employee innovative work behavior via work engagement dully confirmed by path analysis is indicative of the fact that work engagement plays a substantial and significant role in mediating the causal relationship between work environment and employee innovative work.
