Role of Logistics in Global Sourcing

The main objective of the diploma thesis “Role of Logistics in Global Sourcing” is theoretical and practical reviewing of international logistics, especially in the sense of its significant role it plays in planning, organizing and implementing of sourcing strategy in the global business environment, and to make recommendation on logistics performance improvement for production facility of American company Gentherm Inc. located in Ukraine. The practical part of the thesis gives an overview of logistics and supply chain development, management, supply chains infrastructure, innovations and risk mitigation in companies working worldwide. There is also explained a significance of supply chains and their influence on multinational corporations. Theoretical part of the given diploma deals with analysis of Gentherm Inc. business performance, its history, product portfolio, and world presence. A brief financial analysis is provided in this part to figure out the performance of the company regarding logistics operations and supply chains. Quality tools used for supply chains analysis secured detailed understanding of problems and causes of the studied issues in logistics, and so recommendations were provided to enhance the company`s logistics flows.
