There is a lack of clarity about Housing First and Supportive Housing in the Australian and Melbourne context. This article explains both approaches; highlights the differences between the two approaches and the differences between Housing First/ Supportive Housing and the predominant Australian model of addressing homelessness. It is important to note that while the Housing First philosophy underpins many supportive housing models, not all supportive housing uses a Housing First approach, and not all Housing First approaches use supportive housing.
