Abstract

Two-phase flow boiling heat transfer of water in a narrow rectangular channel, 1.0mm high and 20mm wide, was experimentally examined at a atmospheric pressure in a range of mass flux 16 to 76 kg/m^2s. The effect of mass flux and location on a boiling curve is small. The heat transfer in a narrow rectangular channel is grater than Stephan-Abdelsalam's correlation. The effect of mass flux on the local heat transfer coefficient is small. The measured CHF is by 10 to 40% lower than that predicted by Katto's correlation.
