Abstract

In these standards DN2 is a fixed multiple of FCM throughout (see legend of figure 3 about rats). Net efficiency of lactation (milk calories divided by DN2 calories) is 62.5 per cent throughout. Within species DN1 is proportional to W; as between species DN1 is proportional to W.73 (see footnote 8 about meaning of W.73). For the comparatively small range in live weight within species, the numerical distinction between DN1 proportional to W or proportional to W.73 is too small to be of any consequence in estimating feed requirements.
