Abstract

Aim of the study is to ascertain the prevalence of erectile dysfunction (ED) in patients with LUTS due to BPH regularly treated either with α-blockers or combination therapy, which was previously undiagnosed and rate the response of a suitable treatment. 110 patients presenting to our Department with LUTS due to BPH regularly treated with tamsulosine or tamuslosine + finasteride were evaluated for ED; Information provided were demographic factors, duration of treatment, medicine used, ED risk factors and comorbidities, IPSS score and IIEF score. Non- treated ED was present in 63.8% of 110 patients presenting with LUTS. After basic and specific diagnostic evaluation, suitable treatment was applied in 67.2 % or 39 of these patients. In 79.5 % of the patients there was a positive treatment response. A clear correlation was seen between the severity of LUTS and ED, as well as an increase in incidence of ED in patients with risk factors.
