Abstract
Aqueous extracts of Pongamia pinnata and Lantana camara at 10.0, 8.0, 6.0, 4.0 and 2.0% concentrations affected the growth and development of Helopeltis theivora. The duration of nymphal instar of the pest was lengthened significantly by the extracts. Comparatively P. pinnata lengthened the duration of instars more significantly than L. camara. Although the duration of 4th instar nymphs lengthened but most of the emerged nymphs died later due to deformities. The % mortality varied from (27.5–50.2%) of P. pinnata and (22.5–44.3%) of L. camara at 2.0–10.0%, respectively. Likewise, the weight of all the nymphal instars with both the extracts significantly decreased. The adult emergence from the treated nymphs varied from 16.5–45.7% (male) and 21.746.5% (female) with the extracts of P. pinnata and L. camara treatments.
