Abstract
A proposed actinide-reduced fuel is described. The fuel would utilize non-weapons grade uranium and neo-fertile tungsten to reduce plutonium production in the spent fuel. Tungsten has thermal capture and resonance absorption properties similar to those of uranium 238. The tungsten makes the weapons grade-actinide reduced fuel perform like the Uranium dioxide fuel in LWRs, with a strong negative fuel and moderator temperature coefficient.
