Abstract

Summary The rapid chemical separation of europium from neighbouring lanthanides was investigated. Details are given of a procedure by means of which europium has been separated in about 50% yield from irradiated samarium targets within one minute. The separation factor with respect to samarium is about 102, and with respect to other lanthanides one to several orders of magnitude greater.
