Leadership characteristics of administrators affecting knowledge management in educational institutions under the jurisdiction of Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) study the level of leadership characteristics of administrators; 2) identify the level of knowledge management in educational institutions; and 3) study the leadership characteristics of administrators affecting knowledge management. The research sample, derived by proportional stratified random sampling as distributed by district, consisted of 306 administrators and teachers of educational institutions under the Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The research instrument was a questionnaire constructed by the researcher. Data were analyzed with percentage, mean, standard deviation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings of this research were as follows: 1. The overall and in each aspects of leadership characteristics of administrators were at a high level. These aspects, ranked from highest to lowest were as follows: physical characteristics, responsibility characteristics, intelligence characteristics, social background characteristics, personality characteristics and social characteristics. 2. The overall and in each aspects of knowledge management in educational institutions were at a high level. These aspects, ranked from the highest to lowest were as follows: knowledge creation and acquisition, knowledge utilization, knowledge sharing, and knowledge organization. 3. The leadership characteristics in the aspects of social characteristics and personality characteristics affected the knowledge management in educational institutions at the percentage of prediction of 56.60 with statistical significance at 0.05 level.
