Abstract

Mostly real time applications want rapid data transmission in the network. The performance can be ensured by mechanisms which gives performance by shaping and policing of packet traffic. Further improve the performance of the network by fair allocation of resources. Many congestion control techniques provide good fairness and throughput, which decreases the loss of packet. We have analyzed the strength of a channel with particular emphasis on control actions that can be used in order to confirm strength of the channel and loss of data on network produced by overlapped responses in bi-directional hosts that ensued in out of data order. This loss of packet can be avoided by control techniques and performance of network throughput can also be enhanced. The primary aim of this paper is to present commonly used congestion control techniques and examine their effect on network traffic in order to increase its performance, such as packet delay, loss and buffer congestion. It is also presented that which are the best techniques to be applied in a particular situation.
