Abstract
Under present-day intensification of animal breeding metabolic disorders are the commonest pathologies. One of these pathologies is cow ketosis. Unbalanced diets are among the main causes of this disease. The degree of metabolic exchange disorder depends on the management period since during different technological periods and year seasons the exchange level is of different intensity, and thus varying degrees of metabolic disorders including and mineral metabolism disorder. The research goal was the study of mineral metabolic disorders in cows with ketosis before and after calving. The studies were conducted on the Training and Experimental Farm “Prigorodnoye” of the Altai State Agricultural University during autumn and winter period with comparable Black-Pied cows. These cows underwent clinical and biochemical testing. The groups were formed according to the level of ketone bodies and their fractions in the blood. The evaluation of clinical and biochemical status was conducted 4 times: 2 months before calving, 1 month before calving, in 10 days after calving, and in 1 month after calving. It was found that the total calcium concentration in the blood of cows with ketosis was lower than that of healthy cows. The level of inorganic phosphorus had no significant differences between ill and healthy cows. The total calcium level in cows with ketosis begins increasing one month before calving, while in clinically healthy cows this index increased only after calving. Ketosis in cows is accompanied by hypoglycemia, acidosis and acetonemia.
