Abstract

Public lighting is an important public infrastructure which helps to create the appearance and atmosphere of public spaces of towns and villages. Creating quality public lighting system with adequate operating and investment costs requires a systematic approach. Under such an approach it is necessary to define the quality of public lighting in the broad context, including not only the safety of people, property and transport, energy efficiency, but also architectural and urban aspects and issue of obtrusive light. An essential part of a systematic approach is the description of the activities and subjects that affect the quality and cost of the public lighting. The paper describes one possible approach to systematic solution of public lighting systems.
