Abstract

Abstract The Flora of Tamil Nadu was compiled by the botanists of Botanical Survey of India, Coimbatore and from various organizations from 1983 to 1989. However, the Flora of Tamil Nadu is still incomplete with reference to angiosperms. Based on the studies by the different botanist many taxa were included from neighbouring states like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In order to increase the knowledge on the Flora of Tamil Nadu, the data were gathered from the literatures, unpublished theses and research reports published from 1989 to 2013. The study has resulted in the documentation of 192 taxa belonging to 130 genera comes under 61 families. Several new taxa and the species occurrence reported for the first time to this state.
