Abstract

Among the parameters, plant height, bulb yield and bulb length were found to show high broad sense heritability. Bulb yield per hectare and number of green leaves per plant had high broad sense heritability estimates with high genetic gain. Correlation coefficient and path coefficient analysis in onion indicated that bulb yield had highly positive significant correlation with bulb length and bulb diameter. Bulb diameter also had positive significant association with plant height, fresh weight/bulb and bulb length. The path analysis revealed that plant height, bulb length and bulb diameter are the major components of bulb yield in onion.
