Abstract

In this paper we discuss a usage of particle filter for the purpose of indoor localization based on signal strength. We used beacons - Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transmitters - as a source of signal. Received signal strength (RSS) fluctuates over time and has negative effect on localization accuracy. To minimize the fluctuation of RSS, we used methods for aggregation of RSS and elimination of inaccurate transmitters. We combined those methods with our implementation of particle filter in the prototype for mobile devices.
