Abstract

Against the background of transport in general in Cape Town, Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, presented in the preceding chapter, this chapter narrows the focus to paratransit. The chapter explores paratransit ownership, regulation and services to answer three main questions: (1) How do paratransit services operate? (2) What are the benefits associated with paratransit services? and (3) What are the problems associated with paratransit services?1
