Abstract

The study deals with dyes from petrol, fake petrol , green petrol or pat rex and adulteration of these fuel s with blue kerosene. A Hi gh Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) study of above fuel s indicates the dillcrence in dye propert ie> compared to that of genuine petrol. Al so dye from bl ue kerosene was detected in few petrol samples <•nd patrex samples. indicating adu lteration of blue kerosene in above fuels. In addi tion to dye study, other tests like density and di stillati on charac teristi cs for petroi ,Raxon,SBP and green petrol have also been studied .
