Young people leaving care and the impact of family homelessness and trauma - Victoria's response

Significant changes have been made in the planning and recognition of the needs of the young people who leave care in Victoria each year. Their transition is a time where care and thought is required so that they are supported to have a stable and connected experience that is cognoscente of the complex needs they may experience. The Children Youth and Families Act 2005 focuses on the best interests of children and young people and was a watershed in providing specific legislation on leaving care issues.
