Abstract

The web has been an inevitable part of our lives since more than two decades now. The number of web users is increasing ever since. This paper provides an evolutionary comparison of the web generations i.e. web 1.0, web 2.0, web 3.0, web 4.0 and web 5.0. It focuses on the characteristics and information of the web versions and compares all of them based on some selected parameters. It has been observed that web 1.0 focused on of information presentation and establishing an online presence whereas web 2.0 focused on connecting people. Web 3.0 is the personalized web. Web 4.0 is the ubiquitous and intelligent web and lastly web 5.0 is emotional web. This paper shall also explore the E-Learning application and how it has evolved along the web. In the end we will propose the future of the E-Learning application.
