Double Tibiofibular Synostosis (Fibula pro Tibia) for Non-Union and Delayed Union of the Tibia

Abstract

A one-stage surgical procedure for double tibiofibular synostosis, called fibula pro tibia, is described and the results in 171 cases of traumatic non-union and delayed union of the tibia, treated by this method, are reported. Non-unions with large bone defects in the tibial shaft and congenital pseudarthroses not considered here. The indications, results, and advantages of this method are disccussed.
