Abstract

A microstrip square patch antenna is designed and analyzed with re configurability in frequency and polarization. The patch contains two orthogonal slots and two rectangular patches added across the length and width. The diversity in frequency and polarization is achieved through the use of PIN diodes. The basic antenna is designed to operate at 4.5 GHz and, with re configurability in frequency, it is going to operate from 4 to 4.5 GHz. This antenna design demonstrates desirable features for wireless communication applications such as wireless local area networks (WLAN), satellite links, and space robots.
