Abstract

In this paper, a novel version of decimation filters for power-of-two decimation factors, which is a useful alternative to the CIC decimation filter, is proposed for high performance and efficient applications. The proposed filter, which is a cascade of the cascaded Cosine filters with the interpolated second-order polynomial (ISOP) filter, provides better passband droop performance and more alias suppression than CIC filters. Furthermore, the proposed filter is also multiplier-free and can provide much more attention of the alias suppression by cascading only some single-stage cosine filter, rather than by using multiple copies of original filters like CIC filter, thereby achieving a significant hardware reduction over CIC filter.
