Abstract

Closely collocated C and Ku band scatterometer winds are investigated and significant differences occur depending on sea surface temperature (SST). C-band scatterometer winds do not show any significant SST effect against independent wind references, but Ku-band scatterometer winds show a clear SST-dependent effect, but varying as a function of wind speed. Both statistical and physical analyses of these effects are presented.
