Abstract
The DECchip 21066 microprocessor is an implementation of the Alpha AXP architecture. The microprocessor is designed explicitly as a high-performance, low-cost PC engine that can run Windows NT. The chip is the first microprocessor to include an on-chip controller for the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI). An on-chip memory controller provides memory subsystem design flexibility. A PC based on the DECchip 21066 is smaller, less expensive, and simpler to design than most other PCs.>
