Abstract

Recent years have witnessed the rapid growth of mobile computing environments. One of the major concerns in such environments is security, specially in the context of wireless communications. The huge growth of wireless mobile services poses a demand for end-to-end secure connections. Wireless transport layer security (WTLS) provides authentication, privacy and integrity for the wireless application protocol (WAP). The security of WAP WTLS is analyzed. The most important parts of the WTLS specifications and the reasons for defects are presented. The known security threats of WTLS are discussed and an acceptable level of security is proposed.
