Abstract

Disk encryption is a special case of data at rest protection when the storage media is a sector-addressable device such as a hard disk or a flash card. Disk encryption has two main facets: Disk encryption theory and Encryption layer in storage stack TrueCrypt is a software system to finish Disk encryption. It performs satisfactorily in operation, encryption efficiency and availability factor. TrueCrypt encrypts data stored on a computer's mass storage and transparently decrypts the information when an authorized user requests it, and no special action by the user is required. Overall information and features of TrueCrypt software system are comprehensively discussed, and Encryption Principles of system, such as Encryption Algorithms, Hash Algorithms and file system filter driver, are comprehensively mainly discussed.
