Abstract
XML has become the de-facto standard for interchanging data over the internet in the past decade. However, most enterprise data still reside in traditional databases rather than XML databases. To much relief of web programmers, the database vendors provide facilities to publish existing data in XML format which are coined XML Views. However, the resultant XML views are not inherently updatable. To support update operations on XML views, much research has stimulated on building middleware systems that allow the users to update the XML views and propagate these updates to the relevant data sources. Despite of the escalating numbers of research on updating XML views created on Relational database systems (RDBs) there is a scarcity in research on updating XML Views created over Object-relational databases (ORDBs). In this paper a novel approach for updating XML views created over Object-relational databases is proposed.
