Abstract

Business process management (BPM) is an approach to integrate all business resources to meet what the clients need. While current BPM researches focus on business process modeling, definition, the process control mechanism is less discussed. In view of the dynamic nature of business process, the control mechanism requires more flexibility. In order to reduce the complexity of business process, this paper designs and proposes a resource state based process control mechanism to manage the business workflow. First we present our resource oriented business model to constitute our workflow, then we take advantage of finite state machine to control the resource flow by combining all business related resources and states together to constitute our business places. Finally we give a simple case to verify that the method presented is valid and effective. This method improves the controlling efficiency by transferring the emphasis from business services to resources, thus avoiding the variable nature of business service and provides more accuracy.
