Mergers and acquisitions in the pharmaceutical industry: a case study.

This thesis has examined five significant mergers in the late 1990s and early 2000. The conclusion is that the financial performances of the merged entity actually show improvement but these mergers did not address the fundamental problem of the pharmaceutical industry; i.e., diminishing new product pipeline and rising research and development costs.
