Abstract
LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is an hallucinogen. Hallucinogens were seen as 'potions of Satan' by the sorcerers and witches who traditionally employed them. Naturally occurring herbal hallucinogens, such as henbane and datura, were also used in some arcane religious practices. (author abstract)
