Abstract

A series of model tests of pile group( two piles in line) were conducted in dry sand under lateral loading with different pile spacing. All of piles were instrumented with strain gauges at different depth in order to obtain soil resistance of each pile in the group. Based on the test results? the pile group efficiency, distribution of total load on each pile head and soil resistance of each pile in the group were presented. The relationships of soil subgrade reaction coefficient with depth and pile head deflection were established for front pile and back pile, respectively, and forthmore the p-y curves reduction factor of pile group were recommended for pile group calculation. This reduction factor varies with not only pile spacing but pile head deflection and depth also.
