A brief review of underwater electric current communication

Abstract

Due to the harsh characteristic of underwater environment, it is difficult for the underwater vehicles to communicate with others. Exploring the various underwater communication schemes is essential for the future practical applications. In this paper, some commonly underwater communication schemes are introduced which emphasize on their technical index, operation environment, advantages and the improvement needed firstly. Then some efforts have been taken on the performance parameters which mainly focus on the underwater wireless communication methods. Finally, a large segment of this paper is devoted to introduce the research status and the expectation of the underwater electric current communication. In a word, the electric current communication has broad application prospect in underwater communication domain.
